Kase sensei

We follow the style and philosophy of the legendary martial artist, Kase sensei. He has taught in many countries the Shotokan Ryu Kase Ha, the way of karate he has developed through his diligent practice of the art, for more than 60 years. Senior instructors, who followed Kase sensei all those years, have decided to proceed, under his direction and guidance, with the foundation of the Shotokan Ryu Kase Ha, with the aim to preserve and further develop the Shotokan Ryu Kase Ha Karate-Do. Unfortunately Taiji Kase Sensei died in 24th of November 2004.

Kase Ha Shotokan Ryu Karate-Do Academy continues this tradition through its instructors, Mark Johnson has been fortunate enough to have trained with Kase sensei.

Mark training

Hi there! I’m Mark Johnson and the lead instructor. With years experience I would like to teach you the key principals of Karate.

At Mark Johnson’s School of Martial Arts we teach a range of Martial Arts programs you are sure to find one to suit you. I have been teaching classes to children and adults for over 30 years and I am part of Karate Victoria and Australian Karate Federation (AKF) which are both government recognised Karate organisations. We believe that martial arts is a way to bring out the best in people as you will learn so much more than to just punch and kick. Fitness, self-defence and personal development are just some of the benefits to martial arts.

I am an accredited sports coach with the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme and hold a current Working with Children’s card. Our junior instructors (Sempei) are all working toward their coaching accreditations.

I am joined by Sensei Laurie Park, Sensei Dave Jacobs and Sensei Chris Page-Cook.
